We are pleased to announce the location and dates for next year's HR Leaders of Tomorrow conference. Please mark your calendars and plan to join us on April 17-18, 2020 in... Juneau, Alaska!

Juneau is the only U.S. capital to border another country with the land-locked city being just a few miles from Canada. It also has a thriving maritime community with strong industries in tourism, outdoor recreation, ocean, forest, mining, renewable energy, R&D, and arts & culture. This unique destination was selected with input from our State SHRM Councils sponsors in AK, OR and WA and seeks to provide equal access to all students.

Our conference will be held at the Baranoff Hotel and we have secured a fabulously discounted room rate of only $99/night. The discount code and registration site will be available soon so start planning your travel arrangements with the following events tailored specifically with HR students in mind:

    • 4/17 Friday 1:00pm - 4:00pm - Corporate Tours
    • 4/17 Friday 5:00pm - 9:00pm - Evening Reception
    • 4/18 Saturday 8:00am - 6:00pm - Full Day of Keynote Speakers and Breakout Sessions (meals provided)

Tentative corporate tours include the following organizations with a local professional HR community that is eager to be involved:

    • Alaska Permanent Fund Corp. - Globally recognized sovereign wealth fund with $65B in assets under management.
    • Bartlett Hospital - Healthcare facility serving 15,000 sq. miles with 55,000 residents across Southeast Alaska
    • NOAA Ted Stevens Marine Research Institute - Research facility for sustainable fisheries.
    • Sealaska Corp. - Alaska Native corporation with a $700M portfolio promoting economic prosperity and environmental protection.
    • Alaskan Brewing Company (must be 21 or older) - Local craft brewery success story with award-winning brews.

As in years past, your chapter may apply for a NHRMA travel stipend for up to 50% (recommended) of the chapter's total travel costs - details to follow. Please work with your advisor to plan fund-raising activities, seek department support, and/or find a corporate sponsor to help defray related expenses.
