Managing Diversity & Inclusion in the Workplace:
Creating awareness and sensitivity to diversity and inclusion issues
Hosted by Seattle Colleges
This interactive and hands-on seminar will enhance participant’s understanding of diversity, how they can benefit from it, and how they can manage diversity and inclusion policies within their organization. The seminar includes recognizing and understanding the primary and secondary dimensions of diversity including sexual orientation, race/ethnic, disability, culture, military experience, education and other significant characteristics. A panel discussion, lunch, and networking will follow the seminar.
Meet our Trainer
Ricardo Leyva-Puebla is an expert in developmental psychology. Currently the Dean of Student Development at Seattle Central and past Director for the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, he has over 30 years of experience working in higher education promoting equal access, equity, inclusion, and social justice. His career in higher education began in the state of California where he received his Bachelor Degree in Religion and a Master of Arts degree in Social Science with an emphasis in Student Development. Ricardo serves on the Board of Directors for the American Friends Service Committee, an international organization recognized for its work on peace and social justice, and on the AFS Board of Community, Equality and Justice Committee developing policies on equity and inclusion. On a personal note, Ricardo was born in Cuba, has lived in Seattle for 27 years, and has shared his life with his husband of almost 32 years.
