    Building a Culture of Authenticity : Inspire Passion & Accountability in Your Employees

    You believe in what you do – but do your employees believe in you? Every industry today is looking for the keys to unlocking employee engagement. From Mission statements to surveys and recognition programs there is no lack of activity aimed hopefully at stirring the passion and creativity of employees. Unfortunately, not much is making a difference. Maybe, just maybe we have been working on the wrong things. Quite possibly the answer to building a business culture like those found at Google, Zappos or Netflix lies more in what your company needs to stop doing.

    This program promises to deliver provocative questions and raise issues that are bound to leave you thinking hard about what needs to change in your organization. There will be no quick fixes or five steps to follow, however, if you are serious about engaging your employees you’ll find new places to get started.

    About the Presenter:

    Mike Cook

    A former Human Resource professional for Standard Oil of California, Mike now works primarily with senior leaders and teams to develop and implement cultural change processes which enhance overall organizational performance on very targeted issues. He enjoys working with diverse client teams at all levels to build alignment and enable change that is sustainable and strategic. Mike has 25 + years consulting/coaching experience working in a wide range of industries and working environments as a designer, facilitator, coach and project team lead on major cultural change initiatives. His experience includes initiatives in petroleum refining, telecommunications, financial services, healthcare and insurance systems.

    Prior to arriving in Anacortes, WA Mike founded Vitalwork, Inc. a diverse Organizational Development firm, in Rochester, NY. From 1989 to early 2011 Mike served Vitalwork as CEO and Senior Consultant. Since his move to the San Juan Islands in 2006 Mike has founded AMJ Group, a solo practice focused on developing peer level CEO and manager’s collaborative work communities. He is also currently serving as Adjunct Professor of Organizational Behavior at Western Washington University where he teaches Managing Organizations and People in the MBA program.​

    A prolific writer, Mike has authored the book THRIVE: Standing on Your Own Two Feet in a Borderless World and has published numerous articles in popular publications. He currently publishes a bi-weekly column in the Bellingham Business Journal on all things related to employee engagement and management development.

    Registration and lunch begin at 11:45, and include time for networking with other members and chapter announcements. The presentation/program begins around 12:00pm and lasts until approximately 1:30pm (includes a question/answer period).

    Cancellation policy: Registrants will be billed the full price of the event if a cancellation is not received by 5:00 pm on the Monday prior to the luncheon.
