    Managing Conflict

    • Learn the types of conflict and the approaches to dealing with conflict
    • Learn the five basic approaches to dealing with conflict and strategies to determine when each strategy is most effective
    • Discuss miscommunication, strong emotions, stereotyping, and repetitive negative behaviors
    • Suggestions on creating an atmosphere of respect and dignity among team members to facilitate a healthy environment
    • Various scenarios and role-plays to practice and implement skills from the training

    Course Objectives

    • Understanding and preventing “abusive conduct,” recognizing the cost of harassing and discriminatory conduct in the workplace, and realizing the benefits of prevention
    • Enhancement of practical skills used in preventing, addressing and correcting abusive, harassing and discriminatory conduct in the workplace
    • Increasing leadership effectiveness and employee relations effectiveness

    • Developing a practical understanding of “abusive conduct,” harassment, discrimination and retaliation, as defined under the law
    • A manager’s heightened role in responding to and preventing potentially offensive or abusive conduct, unlawful harassing and discriminatory conduct, and/or retaliation in the workplace
    • Managing organizational risk related to offensive and/or unlawful workplace conduct

    Skill Builders

    • The “Five Rs of a Proper Response” that help supervisory employees respond to potential “abusive conduct,” harassment, discrimination and retaliation at work
    • Increase leadership effectiveness to improve productivity and reduce legal risk
    • Assess misconduct and determine appropriate responsive measures through Littler’s “Scale of Risk”
